DAYTON, Ohio — Following the recent incidents in Las Vegas and New Orleans, the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has announced it is suspending its Trusted Traveler Program.

The goal, according to an Air Force base press release, is “to ensure the safety and security of personnel, visitors, and facilities.”

The release states that all occupants in a vehicle are required to present U.S. Department of Defense identification or be issued a visitor’s pass from the 88th Security Forces Pass and Registration Office after being vetted.

“The Trusted Traveler Program allowed uniformed service members, their dependents (over age 16), DoD employees, and retired uniformed service members and spouses with valid DoD identification cards to vouch for vehicle occupants entering the installation,” the release reads.
