A mother, a daughter and someone who always put God first ā€” thatā€™s how Joanna Rodriguez-Baxcajay described her mom, Yolanda.

ā€œShe was just a fearless woman, where every obstacle put in her way she would always persevere,ā€ said Rodriguez-Baxcajay.

At their home in Bradenton, Rodriguez-Baxcajay said theyā€™ve held a rosary every night since her passing as the wait for answers continues.

ā€œWe want to keep spreading the word to find who did this. So sudden and so young, and she had yet still so much life in her," she said.

The Bradenton Police Department is investigating two shootings that happened on Nov. 12. The first shooting damaged cars and homes, and the second took place shortly after in the 2100 block of 15th Avenue East.

Police said more than 30 rounds were fired and one hit and killed Rodriguez-Baxcajayā€™s mom.

She was sitting in her car after arriving home from grocery shopping when it happened.

ā€œI just urge you to please say something, because if this was your mother, I know youā€™d want to find who did this,ā€ said Rodriguez-Baxcajay.

Police are working to determine if thereā€™s a link between the shootings. They said evidence gathered from the second scene indicates at least two shooters were involved.

Theyā€™ve also increased police presence in the area during the late afternoon and evening hours. Rodriguez-Baxcajay says itā€™s been a difficult few days, but sheā€™s staying strong and hoping to keep her motherā€™s memory alive.

ā€œShe left a footprint here ā€” really big ā€” and made such a big impact, so Iā€™m just looking for everyoneā€™s help,ā€ she said.

Surrounded by family, Rodriguez-Baxcajay said sheā€™s hopeful someone will come forward with information that will lead to an arrest and that theyā€™ll get a resolution soon.

The funeral service is being held on Saturday, Nov. 23.
