BOCA RATON, Fla. — Three people died and a fourth person was injured when a small plane crashed Friday morning in South Florida near a major interstate highway and railroad tracks, police said.
The three who died were all aboard the plane, and a person on the ground received injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
The Boca Raton Police said in a social media post that several roads near the Boca Raton Airport were closed near Interstate 95. Local media reported the plane was on fire, with a large plume of smoke and firefighters were responding.
The Cessna 310 crashed around 10:20 a.m., apparently because of mechnical issues, authorities said.
The plane was headed to Tallahassee International Airport, the FAA said.
