Friday Night at Clearwater High School, and the season has finally arrived, But long before the preparation for the 2022 season began, Head Coach Thor Jozwiak was back in his football office preparing for the season in a different way.

The third year head coach spent the summer researching the history behind the Clearwater football program.

"I knew that this school was old, but to see that the program and other programs are that old, is pretty incredible" said Jozwiak.

What he found, Tornadoe football will celebrate it’s 100th season this year, and the walk back thru time brought up some fascinating questions.

"To Imagine something 100 years old is amazing, the fact that the game itself has made it that long and we’re still teaching some of the same lessons from a hundred years ago to now, that’s what’s so cool about the game of football".

The former USF Bull is not just preparing his team on the field, but thru his research he is able to offer his athletes something else.

He is teaching them how to take pride in their school both on and off the field and he is hoping it motivates his kids to carry that pride onto the football field.

The 100th season of Clearwater football kicked off with the same opponent they played back in 1922, Hillsborough followed by Lakeland.

The Tornadoes are hoping last years history is on their side which ended in a trip to the regional finals, now they are ready to take the next step.
