The Sailing season has begun at Eckerd College and there is a new head coach at the helm for Women's Sailing Team.

Her name is Caroline Young. The Plant High School alum is in her first year as head coach after being assistant last year.

"I think some of the first words, I was like, I lived like 20 miles from here my whole life and I didn’t even know that this existed", said Caroline as she prepared for the teams first practice.

An accomplished sailor herself since the age of nine, Caroline brings an impressive resume to head the Tritons program.

An All American at Stanford, Caroline went on to sail all over the world for the US national team, and still competes today and now brings her knowledge and experience back home.

"I’m really here to win says the new head coach, but I’m here to work with young adults and to help them grow up".

The Tampa native is just one of three female head coaches of sailing programs ranked within the top 30 in the nation and she comes back home to where it all started to try and leave her mark on this Eckerd Program.
