TAMPA, Fla ---  In January after 15 years at Palmetto High School, the last 13 as the Tigers head coach, Dave Marino retired but if you thought he walked away from the game all together, you don't know the old ball coach very well.

" I got thru my honey dew list it only took me two or three months" says Marino when we caught up with him at his latest coaching stop.

For the last 17 years Dave Marino has worked with kids of all ages coaching offensive and defensive lineman and that's where he came up with "The Dominator Lineman Camp".

The longtime Palmetto head football coach for years has recognized the decreasing number of kids who are interested in playing the line, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

So, with the help of former assistants Greg Walls and Matt Braselton, the three coaches go where ever they are needed to help kids learn the game of football from the lineman's perspective.

The groups goal is very simple. "We try to emphasize, just the fundamentals of technique on the offensive and defensive interior lineman" explains the long time football coach.

Kids want to get the ball and score touchdowns, all of the glamour positions like quarterback, running back or wide receiver, a trend coach Marino is hoping to change.

"There are so many kids in Manatee County alone and at our high school and every high school that are six-three, six-four, three-hundred pound kids and they don’t play football and that’s a shame, says Marino, you talk about they want to be a quarterback, well you can make a heck of a lot of money, if you’re willing to make the commitment".

It will be a busy summer for coach Marino and his band of coaches helping to educate football players across the state to learn to play the offensive and defensive lines and hopefully at the same time, fall in love with it.
