A Rutland native marches 26.2 miles finishing in her hometown as part of the Tough Ruck 2020.
Morgan Long is a Sergeant in the Massachusetts National Guard Medical Unit in Worcester.
Her purpose was to "ruck" in the memory of fallen service members, police, firefighters, and EMTs while raising funds to support military families in times of need.
"For service members, police, fire and military. We just put our uniforms on and do our job. It’s the people at home that worry about us, miss us and are supporting us through everything. It’s just really important for me. All the Tough Rucker Foundation money that I raised goes to the families of fallen soldiers. So the people that were worried about their people who didn’t come home. It was just… no better thing to do right now," said Sgt. Long.
She was met at the finish line in the center of town by family, friends and local representatives, including Rutland selectman Jeff Stillings and State Senator Anne Gobi.
