NEW YORK — Mayor Bill de Blasio's announcement Thursday that the city is working to set up COVID-19 vaccination sites for theater performers and crew members means Broadway is one step closer to returning.
That won't happen until later this year, but there are other shows that will open much sooner.

- After more than a year without live indoor entertainment, some off-Broadway and cabaret venues will resume in-person performances next week
- The Green Room 42, the Daryl Roth Theatre, several other cultural institutions to host live shows beginning April 2
- All shows will feature social distancing, reduced audience capacity, other COVID-19 precautions
Next week, The Green Room 42, one of the city's best cabaret venues, will reopen with a performance by Broadway veteran Lillias White.
White is booked for shows on April 2 and April 3. Tickets are also available for upcoming concerts by Michael Longoria, Eden Espinosa, and Erika Henningsen. Audience capacity is limited to 33%, social distancing rules will be enforced, and masks are required for entry. For tickets, head to thegreenroom42.venuetix.com.
Also on Friday, April 2, performances of "Blindness" will begin at off-Broadway's Daryl Roth Theater. The immersive theatrical experience comes to New York after a celebrated run in London. Audiences will be socially distanced and placed in one- or two-person pods, and start times are staggered to allow for lower capacity. Masks are required at all times while inside the venue. Off-Broadway's "Super Crazy Funtime Show" will also open next Friday at the Players Theatre. This fictional TV variety show features comedy, socially-distanced games, prizes, and more. Finally, "The Office! A Musical Parody" will reopen Friday, April 9 at the Jerry Orbach Theater. Once again, capacity is capped at 33%, audience members will be seated together in pods, and mask are required. Visit theofficemusicalparody.com for more information.
