NEW YORK — More than three thousand new coronavirus cases have been reported in the city in the past 24 hours, and 208 more people were admitted to hospitals.

The mayor's office on Friday said 3,012 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the city in the past day, up from 2,890 new cases reported the day before. There were 201 new hospitalizations Wednesday, according to the city.

New York City's seven-day average positivity rate is 6.69%, up from 6.29% the day before.

Statewide, 12,446 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed Thursday out of 226,560 tests conducted.

The state's positivity rate stands at 5.49%, down slightly from the day before (5.55%).

COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state now stand at 6,950, up from 6,928 on Wednesday. According to Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office, 1,148 patients are now in the ICU, 621 of whom are intubated. On Wednesday, 1,160 patients were in the ICU in New York state.

One hundred twenty-two people in New York state died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. On Wednesday, 129 people in the state died of the virus. The state's confirmed death toll is now 29,270.
