The city will host a parade honoring essential workers on Wednesday, July 7, in the Canyon of Heroes, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Monday.

He said the parade will honor "the people who kept us alive, the people who kept this city going no matter what," including health care workers, first responders, transit workers and more.

"Ticker-tape parades up the Canyon of Heroes — they’ve happened for generations — but this one is going to have a special spirit to it, a special heart and soul, because it’s about celebrating everyday New Yorkers who did something heroic and need our thanks," the mayor said.

The parade will also celebrate educators, municipal workers, grocery and bodega workers and delivery people, according to the mayor.

“Everyone who kept it together in New York City for all of us and brought us back — it’s a day to celebrate and appreciate the heroes who often go unsung,” he said. “We’re going to sing about them this day.”
