NEW YORK — A COVID-19 outbreak has been linked to the Electric Zoo music festival, according to the city.

The city health department announced Wednesday that it was investigating a cluster of at least 16 cases linked to the Randall's Island festival, which was held over Labor Day weekend.

So far, eight people who attended have been identified as potentially contagious and could have exposed others, though city officials said they were likely exposed to the coronavirus before the concert.

The health department advised all New Yorkers who attended E-Zoo to get tested for COVID-19 regardless of vaccination status.

Tens of thousands of people went to Electric Zoo, the city’s longest-running music festival. Attendees were required to show proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the festival’s first day.
