Looking for the perfect gift for your Broadway-loving friend but can't quite afford Broadway tickets? Well, look no further.

The Broadway Makers Marketplace features an alliance of 30 different artisans and their handmade Broadway-themed crafts. From clothing to jewelry, to candles, to bags made out of old theater curtains, even Broadway-themed ornaments, they have it all. There is also a wide collection of signed playbills and show posters, and they conveniently sell Broadway tickets, too.

Not sure what to pick? They can do that for you, too, with custom-curated Broadway boxes centered around a specific show.

"We started as a group of individual business owners who all kind of met at 'Broadwaycon' several years ago," said Broadway Makers Marketplace Owner Michael T. Clarkston. "There was a void that we felt. So we kind of formed an alliance together and we have Broadway Makers Alliance, which is a group of us that get together once a month and we offer some workshops and master classes.

"As the pandemic hit, we kind of went online virtually like everyone else and we created our own little Broadway shopping network, and the idea kind of fell in our lap about having a retail brick-and-mortar store and here we are."

The shop is also host to a variety of events and live performances featuring members of the New York theater community.

"The entertainment industry was one of the hardest ones hit and we're still not fully back," Clarkston said referring to the COVID-19 pandemic-induced shutdown. "Broadway shows are not at full capacity, the theaters are not full. So we all kind of came together and united and kind of helped each other out. You know you've got 30 vendors in an almost 800-square-foot space down here at the underground market."

You can check out the Broadway Makers Marketplace at Turnstyle Underground in Manhattan through the end of February. Enter downstairs at 57th Street and 8th Avenue.
