Here’s what we do know about the New Coronavirus: it’s spreading, rapidly, there is no vaccine and it’s contagious before it’s symptoms become apparent. What we don’t know: pretty much everything else. Dr. Syra Madad heads up the State-wide Pathogens Program for NYC Health + Hospitals, which is charged with making sure the city’s 11 hospitals are prepared for the medically mysterious. She joins In Focus to talk about the knowns and the unknowns and she has the latest on the cases under investigation, and talks about what people should look for in terms of symptoms and what we can do to protect ourselves. Wayne Ho of the Chinese American Planning Council and Jo-Ann Yoo of the Asian American Federation are on the ground in the city’s Chinese community. They talk about the worries many of New York City’s Chinese residents have about loved ones at home, and concerns about how they can contract or treat the New Coronavirus.
