Bhairavi Desai, the executive director of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on Friday’s “Inside City Hall” to discuss a new pay raise for Uber and Lyft drivers across the city. The $5.3% increase, which will amount to almost $4,000 a year, will go into effect on March 1.

Desai also considered how this new policy may affect ride-sharing app customers as well as drivers, and detailed the union’s continued struggle to ensure that all for-hire  and yellow cab drivers earn a fair and livable wage.

“We need to make a job that is priceless not remain wageless,” she said.
