After moving to Carroll Gardens earlier this year to run for a new congressional seat spanning Lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, Rep. Mondaire Jones has returned his focus to the Hudson Valley, where he represents a district he won in 2020.

Jones made his decision to run in the city after redistricting inspired Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney — the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee — to switch districts and run in the one Jones represented in Rockland and Westchester counties.

Ultimately, Maloney lost to Republican Mike Lawler.

Now out of a job, Jones will be appointed to a six-year term on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights in the new year and told Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday he won’t rule out a run for his old seat.

“I’ve also learned my lesson, and that is home for me is in the Hudson Valley,” Jones said. “I’m ruling nothing out.”

Jones reflected on his two years in Congress and also discussed his “positive” friendship with Lawler, his views on Mayor Eric Adams, and his perspective on the growing migrant crisis.
