As the city prepares for more reopenings, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea says the NYPD may have to adjust staffing numbers in certain areas.

Restrictions on businesses will be lifted two weeks from today, and the subway returns to 24/7 service on May 17.

In an interview on “Mornings on 1," Shea said the busier the city gets, the safer it will be.

"The more people you get back to NYC schools, businesses, events is a win-win for NYC, and it's a win-win for public safety. It is truly shared,” Shea said. “The more people you get back on the streets is a win. We'll balance putting people where we need to, but I'm really looking forward to it."

Shea said he's particularly excited for the return of Broadway, which likely won't happen till the fall.
