The city is expecting a wintry mix of rain and snow Tuesday night into Wednesday.

The storm is expected to last for much of Wednesday. New Yorkers can expect 1 to 4 inches of snow, with a tough Wednesday morning rush.

The Bronx will likely see the highest snowfall amounts, possibly in the range of 2-4 inches.

Upper Manhattan and the western half of Staten Island may also see 2-4 inches of snow, while Most of Brooklyn and Queens should see 1-3 inches.

It is expected to rain before transitioning to snowfall.

The storm, which is not a nor'easter, was dropping snow in Ohio and western Pennsylvania on Monday night. The city is expected to receive the storm's tail-end.

The city's sanitation department issued a Snow Alert for Tuesday.

The alert, which begins 8 a.m., allows the department to coordinate with the Office of Emergency Management and the Department of Transportation on snow clearing preparations.

Tuesday's high temperature is projected to be warmer, in the middle and upper 30s.

Sanitation department officials said they will continue to monitor forecasts and provide updates as the snow approaches.

But despite the snow, temperatures are projected to be in the upper 30s Thursday and Friday, reaching around 50 degrees this weekend.
