The number of people staying at city homeless shelters reportedly hit an all time high last year.
According to the Daily News, the annual report by the Coalition for the Homeless found the average nightly population in city shelters reached 63,495 in December.
Despite the record number, the Coalition did not give the city a failing grade on its handling of the homeless crisis.
It did, however, give New York State an F and specifically cited the state's practice of sending former inmates into the shelter system.
That practice was first revealed in an exclusive NY1 story last month.
