A retired FDNY firefighter has died from a September 11th-related cancer.

Staten Island native Jimmy Martinez spent weeks helping in the recovery efforts at the World Trade Center following the attacks.

Martinez died Thursday from bone marrow cancer caused by toxins from the attack. He was 58 years old.

He had donated a 10-passenger van to the Fire Family Transport Foundation to help transport other first responders diagnosed with cancer to and from their treatment.

Martinez's wake will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at the John Vincent Scalia Funeral Home in Eltingville.

His funeral will be held Thursday at St. Clare’s Church at 11 a.m.
