NEW YORK - City police officers who are struggling are being urged to reach out for help after an eighth member of the department committed suicide early Tuesday morning.

Sources say the 35-year-old off-duty officer died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Yonkers.

The Yonkers Police Department says the officer was pronounced dead at the scene around 3 a.m.

Sources say the officer was a seven-year veteran who had been assigned to work in the Bronx.
