Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is in town today.

The former vice president spoke at the United Federation of Teacher's celebration of Teacher Union Day in Midtown. About 2,000 members of the group were in attendance.

The group has yet to endorse any candidate.

During his speech, Biden voiced his support for union teachers and their right to strike.

"These walkouts are still necessary, unfortunately,” Biden said. “It isn't just about teachers’ pay. It's about quality, affordable healthcare. It's not just about school safety either, although that's essential. It's about the things that become possible in our country when our children have the tools they need."

Though Biden did not mention President Trump by name, he did say his administration has been “thoroughly incompetent” when it comes to education.

Biden led the polls for a while, but in recent weeks some surveys show Elizabeth Warren overtaking him.
