All seven people tested for a novel strain of coronavirus in New York City have come back negative, the city Health Department announced Wednesday.
The Health Department made the announcement after confirming that a test of a seventh person came back negative.
According to the Health Department, the city currently has zero coronavirus cases pending.
The city announced it was testing a first person for the novel strain of the virus on February 1. That test was revealed to be negative three days later. Six other tests have also come back negative, the Health Department says.
The total number of cases in mainland China reached 44,653, and the death toll hit 1,113, as of Wednesday. Two people have died elsewhere, one in Hong Kong and one in the Philippines.
Thirteen people in the United States have tested positive for the disease as of Wednesday morning, in six different states. Sixty cases are pending.
