NYC Hasn’t Seen Snowflakes in May in 25 Years - It could happen tonight!

If you have anything to do this morning that requires you to be outside try to get that done as early as possible. We’ll see mainly dry weather this morning but rain develops this afternoon and becomes steady by early Friday evening. Rain will continue much of the overnight as temperatures plummet.

The stage will be set for NYC to see its first snowflakes in the month of May in 25 years! An area of low pressure and an unusually cold airmass come together in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday to bring the chance for a few flurries. Don’t worry, we’re not expecting ANY accumulation.

WEEKEND FORECAST:

Saturday will be cold and blustery. Winds could gust as high as 40 miles per hour. Temperatures will likely only reach the upper 40s which means wind chills could be in the 30s most of the day. Brrrr! The normal high for Saturday is 69 degrees.

Sunday is Mother’s Day! Although it’ll be quite a bit more tolerable Sunday, it’ll still be somewhat cool for this point in the month of May. Expect a high near 60 on Sunday. Not bad, in my opinion.

Have a great weekend! Stay healthy.
