NEW YORK - More than 85 people were arrested during a protest in Times Square Saturday.

The demonstration was scheduled as a rally in support of abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency; also known as ICE.

Protesters were seen being handcuffed for blocking traffic. Demonstrators say they were protesting recent allegations that hysterectomies were being performed on immigrant women in ICE detention without their approval.

"I feel a duty to respond and to come out in the streets and show that we are not going to tolerate this as an American people. That is very blatantly a Eugenics action; a genocidal act,” said one protester.

U.S. immigration officials vehemently deny the reports of unapproved surgeries are true.

It's unclear if anyone was injured during the rallies and arrests.
