NEW YORK — Police are looking for the person who stole a car from a Manhattan parking garage and then crashed the car blocks away earlier this week.

Surveillance video captured the suspect as he entered the garage on a scooter on East 34th Street in Kips Bay early Thursday morning.

The suspect got in a BMW sedan and drove off using the keys left inside the car.

Police say he crashed into the parking garage’s metal gate on the way out and then got into a multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of 25th Street and Second Avenue.

The suspect fled the scene on foot and the car was recovered.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-8477, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
