Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Saturday that 34.6% of all New Yorkers have completed their vaccine series, inoculating them against COVID-19.

The percentage of New Yorkers who have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has risen to 46.3%, according to the governor.

Experts and government officials say the rise in vaccinations is driving down the state’s COVID-19 positivity rate, which now sits at 1.6%, health officials say.

The city's seven-day COVID-19 average positivity rate, which is calculated differently than the state’s, is 3.14%. There were 1,200 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours in the city, and 127 new hospitalizations.

COVID-19-related hospitalizations are dropping statewide, though. As of Friday, there were 2,700 New Yorkers hospitalized due to the virus, and 25 New Yorkers died Friday due to the virus.

Over the past 24 hours, the state administered 159,000 vaccines, according to officials, and more than 15 million doses have been administered across the state to date.
