The body of a man who went missing in the waters off Rockaway Beach early Monday morning was recovered off the coast of Long Island Tuesday, Nassau Country police confirmed Thursday night.

On Wednesday, police identified Berman Gutierrez, 30, as the drowning victim.

Police said Gutierrez was last seen going into the water to swim in the early hours of Monday morning and was swept out into deeper waters.

Emergency personnel responded to Beach 13th and Seagirt Boulevard around 2 a.m. Monday, according to authorities.

Searches by an NYPD Scuba team, police Harbor, Coast Guard and firefighters in the water, on land and in the air were conducted throughout Monday and Tuesday.

Gutierrez’ family, who spoke with NY1 earlier in the week, said he was originally from Nicaragua and had only been in the United States for about a year and half working as an inspector for a food distribution company.
