An elderly Sikh man was attacked and robbed Monday night in Queens, police say.

According to authorities, 82-year-old Onkar Singh was walking through Richmond Hill near 112th Street and Liberty Avenue when two individuals approached Singh from behind and punched him multiple times, sending him falling to the ground.

The suspects took Singh’s cell phone and fled in an unknown direction, police say.

Singh sustained multiple injuries, including lacerations and swelling to the right side of his face.

He was transported to Jamaica Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Speaking with NY1 days after the attack, Singh said no words were exchanged leading up to the violent incident. He said he was merely on a stroll through his neighborhood after dinner when the attack took place, and lamented the rise in crime.

“We should live in a peaceful life. We are honest people, hardworking people,” Singh said.

Police say no arrests have been made at this time and an investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
