A new poll in the race for governor shows Gov. Andrew Cuomo holding a double-digit margin over rival Cynthia Nixon — but it's the smallest margin he's held so far in any survey this year.

A new Quinnipiac University poll gives Cuomo a comfortable 50 percent to 28 percent lead among registered Democrats, but it's the worst the governor has done against Nixon in any survey this year.

Cuomo would also beat Republican candidate Marc Molinaro in a head-to-head matchup 57 percent to 26 percent.

If Nixon is on the November ballot as the Working Families Party candidate, Cuomo's support drops to 40 percent, with 23 percent for Molinaro and 20 percent for Nixon.

The poll was taken from April 26 to May 1. The margin of error in the general election is +/- 3.7 percentage points, while the primary poll's error margin is +/- 5.7 percentage points.
