Just one week after announcing his bid for Senate, Rep. Adam Schiff has earned a major endorsement: Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In a press release from the Schiff campaign on Thursday, Pelosi said she will be “supporting [former] House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff" if Sen. Dianne Feinstein decides not to run for re-election.

“Ever since I supported Adam in his race for Congress in 2000, I have known his commitment to putting the American Dream in place for everyone,” Pelosi said in the statement. “Adam has dedicated his life to public service. Every time I have asked Adam to take on the tough fight against extremist forces, he has responded with integrity, strength and success.”

Schiff, a loyal foot soldier for Pelosi during her tenure as Speaker, was appointed to prominent committees during her tenure in leadership, including House Intelligence, where he served as Chairman, as well as the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol. Pelosi also chose Schiff to serve as lead impeachment manager for then-President Donald Trump’s first trial iin 2020.

“In the Senate, Adam Schiff would be effective from the start in putting People Over Politics and advancing an economy that works safely and for everyone," Pelosi concluded.

Following the release of Pelosi’s endorsement, Schiff's Senate campaign released another statement that listed a number of endorsements, including California Reps. Julia Brownley, Jim Costa, Anna Eshoo, Jimmy Gomez, Jared Huffman, Mike Levin, Ted Lieu, Grace Napolitano, Jimmy Panetta, Scott Peters, Brad Sherman, Eric Swalwell, Mike Thompson, and Juan Vargas, as well as former California Reps. Howard Berman, Susan Davis, Sam Farr, Mel Levine, Alan Lowenthal, Jerry McNerney, George Miller, and Henry Waxman.

"I am honored to have earned the support of Speaker Pelosi and so many of my colleagues from the California delegation,” said Schiff in a statement. “Together, we've played an outsized role within the U.S. Congress in protecting our democracy and supporting working families, and I'm excited to continue that work as their partner in expanding health care, combatting the climate crisis, and addressing homelessness.”
