A dozen people, including two teenagers, were injured and one person was killed in multiple separate shootings throughout New York City Sunday night, according to police.
The first incident happened in Brooklyn just after 6:30 p.m. when police said a 74-year-old woman was shot in the stomach while sitting in the courtyard of the Pink Houses in East New York.
She told authorities she heard gunshots and felt pain and did not see the shooter. She was transported to Brookdale Hospital and is expected to survive.
The violence continued just after 8 p.m. when a 16-year-old boy and three men were also shot by a man on a moped in Brownsville after an argument broke out, police said.
Authorities said a group of three attacked the moped driver at the intersection of Livonia and Rockaway avenues. The driver fled but returned with a firearm and began shooting at the group.
During the shooting, a 24-year-old bystander was also injured. All victims were transported to nearby hospitals and are expected to survive, police said, while the suspect fled the scene.
Moments later at around 8:45 p.m., two shootings, which police believe are connected, then happened in the Bronx.
Authorities said it began when two men on bicycles began shooting outside a convenience store on Southern Boulevard, sending bullets flying into the shop. Inside the store, a 13-year-old girl was struck in the left hand, while her mother was grazed by a bullet.
According to police, the same suspects fled to the intersection of Bristow and Jennings streets, where they again open fire, striking a woman in the left leg as she was walking her dog.
All three victims were not the intended targets of the shootings, police said.
Hours passed before an 18-year-old man was then shot in the left leg inside of Nostrand Playground just after 11 p.m. in Brooklyn, police said. The suspect in that shooting remains unknown to authorities.
Just before midnight, police also responded to a call in Harlem of a man shot on West 115th Street. Upon arrival, authorities discovered 34-year-old Sean Tinsley with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The violence continued into the early morning hours Monday with a shooting around 12:15 a.m. outside a Manhattan nightclub on Sixth Avenue, near West 22nd Street.
Authorities said in that incident, a 32-year-old man was outside the location when he became involved in a dispute with an unknown suspect who displayed a firearm and fired at the victim.
The victim suffered a graze wound to the chin while the suspect fled in a white BMW SUV, according to police.
During the incident, an unmarked police car, with a police lieutenant and two officers inside, was also struck by gunfire, authorities said. One bullet struck the vehicle's trunk and became lodged in the rear passenger seat but no officers were injured.
Roughly an hour later, the violence then spilled into Queens when a 21-year-old man, who police said is a known gang member, was shot in the left leg.
Authorities noted that the victim refused to cooperate with investigators and the suspect remains unknown.
The NYPD confirmed at some point during the night a person was also shot outside a home on the Cross Bronx Expressway in the Parkchester neighborhood. No further details were available regarding that incident.
In total, 13 people, including two teenagers, were shot in nine separate shootings.
Authorities said only one person of interest has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting outside a Manhattan nightclub. The white BMW SUV that was invovled in the incident has also been located.
No other arrests have been made.
