Curtis Granderson, nicknamed the "Grandyman," played 16 seasons in Major League Baseball for the Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays, Milwaukee Brewers and Miami Marlins.

The three-time All-Star joined Stef Manisero on NY1 to talk about new efforts by the MLB Players Alliance to create opportunities on and off the field for young Black players.

"Seeing is believing, and when you get a chance to get in front of them, it is a great motivational tool," Granderson said.

The Players Alliance is a group of more than 100 active and former professional baseball and softball players who use their voice and platform to improve diversity in the sport.

During his interview, Granderson also gave his thoughts on new MLB rule changes meant to speed up the game.

"Any way you can finish the game sooner, the better," Granderson said.

Plus, he previewed spring training for both the Mets and Yankees.

"Money talks and the Mets spent a lot of money," Granderson said. "But every year, you have to win if you are the Yankees. So that doesn't go away whether you spend money or don't spend money."
