What would society look like if racism was taken out of politics and policy making?

Heather McGhee, the former president of the think tank Demos, toured the country in search of answers and wrote about her experience in a new book, “The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together.”

She joined Errol to discuss her findings that racism ultimately hurts everyone economically, not just those who are being discriminated against. She explained that government investments in social programs would ultimately benefit both Black and white Americans and that racism is at the heart of why there is no universal health care or a proper education system. And she shared a vision of a path forward for Americans to cross the social divide to benefit everyone.
