The NYPD said two children under the age of 5 are dead after a vehicle struck them in Brooklyn on Monday afternoon.

"I ran to the little girl here. She was motionless, you know," one witness said near the scene. "I put my sweatsuit there to try to stop the blood from going down and to try to keep her warm, and the other baby was down the block in the stroller."

It happened around 12:30 p.m. near 5th Ave. and 9th St. in Park Slope.

Police said Josh Lew, 1, and Abigail Bloominstein, 4, were struck.

Officials said the car struck at least two other people.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Brooklyn City Councilman Brad Lander said one of the adults who was struck was a pregnant woman:

Witnesses said Lew and Bloominstein, both of whom who live on 5th Ave., were walking with their mothers when the car hit them at the intersection, along with the two women. The pregnant woman was critically injured. The condition of the other person struck is not known at this time.

Witnesses said the white Volvo did not stop until it was halfway down the block on 9th St., slamming into another car.

Witnesses said they saw the stroller dragged under the car.

"It was just chaos. Everybody was yelling, screaming, crying, calling the cops, everyone's running in the street," one witness said.

"The remains of the stroller were under the front of the car, all the way down 9th St. to where the car terminated into all of the parked cars. It was horrific," one person said. "I have to say, this is probably the fourth incident I've seen in three years."

Police said the driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old woman, is in custody, and officials continue to investigate. Charges have not been confirmed at this time.

Some of the witnesses at the scene said the driver of the car told police she had a medical emergency.

"When they finally took her out the vehicle, she was normal, she wasn't shaking from nerves, she wasn't sad, she wasn't angry, she didn't ask any questions," a witness said.

Residents said 5th Ave. and 9th St. has long been a dangerous intersection. A protest outside Mayor Bill de Blasio's gym on 9th St., close to where the children were killed, is scheduled for Tuesday.

"We're going to look at it carefully to see if there's anything structurally about that intersection that we need to change," the mayor said during his weekly "Mondays with the Mayor" interview on NY1's "Inside City Hall." "I cannot say that I know of any problem there, and have not heard of any complaint there, but we're going to certainly look at everything, and that's part of the full investigation."
