BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Police are investigating a shooting in Brooklyn that sent one man to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators say he was shot in the chest Wednesday afternoon near Park Avenue and Throop Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

NY1 is told the shooting may have happened on the roof of a building at the Tompkins Houses.

People who live in the area say type of thing happens far too often.

"It's a common occurrence here. I've been living here 35 years, this December 35 years, so it's pretty common," said one resident.

"I'm worried I really want to move out and hopefully get a good job to be able to go to a better neighborhood," said another resident.

Police have not made any arrests and have yet to suggest a motive for the shooting.
