A Brooklyn resident and aspiring filmmaker helped create a limited edition sneaker for Nike and it was inspired by something close to her heart.

Asha Boston's version of the Nike Air Max is called the R-46.

Boston was one of 28 New Yorkers selected to create her own sneaker as part of a partnership between Nike and "We Are Cultivator", a platform for artists interested in designing shoes.

The 27-year-old said her shoe was inspired by the R46 MTA subway car that runs on the A line.

She said the color scheme is a direct reflection of the car's orange seats and the blue is a nod to the blue in the subway map above the seats.

"The A Train connected the black community in Harlem to the black community in Bed-Stuy in 1936 when the line was extended and I thought it was just a perfect pairing to go along with the story of the documentary that I’m working on," said Boston.

Boston’s debut documentary series is called “A Time Before Kale” and it explores the history of Black neighborhoods struggling in the midst of gentrification.

The sneakers are now on sale on Nike’s website through September 1st.

There will also be a pop-up shop at a block party on August 24th from 4 to 8.

It will be located along Hancock between Throop and Tompkins Avenues in Bed-Stuy.
