A Buffalo man is accused of killing a toddler.

Nathaniel Baker, 23, may face 25 years to life in prison if convicted.

On Tuesday afternoon, police say Baker and his girlfriend brought her son, Jordan Robinson, 2, to a hospital.

He was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Then Baker allegedly went to his sister’s house on Sanders Road.

When law enforcement arrived, he wasn’t corporative, which led to the SWAT and Crisis Management teams being called.

"After a number of hours and a negotiation, the suspect did surrender peacefully and both children were unharmed in the sense that they were returned back over to their mother and he was subsequently brought to headquarters," said Jeff Rinaldo, Buffalo Police captain.

Baker has been arraigned on one count of second-degree murder.

It is thought that Jordan Robinson was beaten to death.

“Obviously every situation is different,” said Erie County District Attorney John Flynn. “You just don’t know who you’re dating sometimes.”

Baker is scheduled back in court on January 10 for a felony hearing.

He is being held without bail.
