AMHERST, N.Y. — Daemen College is now Daemen University.

The 75-year-old higher education institution made the change after a successful petition to the New York State Education Department Board of Regents.

The school has more than 2,600 students per academic year and offers 57 baccalaureate, 31 masters and four doctoral programs.

“Now with Daemen securing university status, Daemen can compete and attract even more prospective students from far and wide, building on their reputation and writing a new chapter in its history,” said Assemblymember Karen McMahon.

The university is based in Amherst and has campuses throughout Western New York, as well as Brooklyn.
