Long lines on the first day of early voting are being reported across New York state, amid record voter turnout throughout the country.

In Cohoes, voters patiently waited in line for their opportunity to cast their ballot. The location is one of five early voting sites in Albany County.

Patricia Sibilia, president of the League of Women Voters of Albany County, has worked hard at helping voters navigate the registration process, absentee voting, and now early voting.

Sibilia said safety measures are in place to ensure voters can wait in line safety. A poll worker is checking to make sure every person in line has a mask, and a limited number of people are allowed inside the building to vote at a time.

Every piece of equipment is sanitized after every use, Sibilia said.

Voters in Albany County can cast a ballot at any of the five early voting locations in the county. For more information, click here.
