The first floor of 3 Lincoln Square in downtown Albany is now home to "The Collaboratory."

It's a place where pharmacy students and medical professionals can collaborate on community wellness initiatives.

"It's more for education, its more for referrals, it is allowing people access to the system. How to get into the system, how to understand their healthcare insurance and also the importance of medication," said Albany College of Pharmacy President Dr. Greg Dewey.

The open project space will serve nearly 9,000 South End residents who have unmet health care needs.

The collaboratory is a partnership between Trinity Alliance and Albany college of pharmacy - offering students hands on education.

The healthcare space is set to be open to the public in Mid-September.
