Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul announced Wednesday which Albany projects will be funded by $10 million in state funding. The money comes from the state's Downtown Revitalization Initiative, which awards different communities statewide.

In all, a dozen Albany projects were announced. All of them center around the Clinton Square neighborhood.

  • $2 million for a six-story mixed-use building called Clinton Square Studios at the corner of Lexington and Broadway
  • $2.8 million for an improved pedestrian experience on Clinton Avenue
  • $1 million to create the Clinton Market Collective at Clinton Park

Local leaders say these projects won’t just benefit Albany, but the entire Capital Region.

"If we don’t invest and strengthen the core, the entire region suffers. And it is about a strong core and that’s what this investment is about today," said Assemblywoman Pat Fahy.

Another project getting funding is $160,000 for Death Wish Coffee’s first stand-alone, branded cafe. That will go somewhere on Livingston Avenue.
