With a 17-4 win over Mayfield, Fort Plain baseball coach Craig Phillips notched his 800th career win.

The veteran coach called it one of the best moments in his 46-year career with the Hilltoppers.

Surrounded by family, friends and former players, Phillips and the Hilltoppers scored a huge win for his milestone victory.

"We worked really, really hard," Phillips said of the accomplishment. "We practice every single day. We had guys get the virus, we had guys quarantine, but we kept fighting it together and we got better. There's a lot of guys that coach, but there aren't a lot of guys that have had as much success as I have."

"I've been here with him a long time," senior Troy Butler said. "It's just amazing to be able to celebrate something like this with him."

Phillips and Fort Plain will enjoy this win, but it's back to work Wednesday, when they take on OESJ.
