Friends and family gathered at Shaker High School on Sunday night to honor the life of Destiny Greene, the 15-year-old-student who was shot and killed in Albany last month.

A candlelight vigil was held by the school. Attendees included Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan.

Friends and classmates spoke, remembering Greene as a kind and positive person who was always there for support.

Greene's family hopes Destiny’s death will lead to change.

"My sister‘s death was not taken in vain,” said Greene’s sister, Elijahnae Greene. “My sister’s death is a revolution, and hopefully it can have some impact and bring the gun violence slowly to eventually ending in Albany.”

Greene was laid to rest last week. Her mother is hoping to start a foundation in her name to offer scholarships to students. She says she hopes this will keep Destiny’s name alive.
