Spring is here and it's the perfect time to explore the great outdoors.

Schoharie County Eagle Trail is officially open for visitors, and on Saturday they held a virtual event to kick off the first trail tours.

"You know, there is a national fascination with these eagles," said Schoharie Economic Enterprise Corp. founding board member Steve Harris. "Schoharie County is well-placed to showcase them. So if you're cooped up with COVID and you want to get outdoors and have a great day, come on out to Schoharie County."

Here are some tips for eagle watching: Be sure to arrive early between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. or stay late until 4 p.m. or 5 p.m. for the best chances of seeing them. And patience is the key to successful viewing.

The trails are fun for the whole family too, offering a chance to see magnificent birds, and then stop by local restaurants and shops after.
