The Finger Lakes Land Trust is working to preserve land and protect wildlife in the finger lakes region, while also opening natural areas to the public for outdoor recreational use. The group celebrated the opening of Houghton Preserve last month, which is located outside of Corning. Now, they're hoping to do the same thing on Owasco Lake. The preserve there would span 78 acres, and would help protect the watershed land from toxic algae blooms, while also opening the area up for hiking trails. Andy Zepp from the Finger Lakes Land Trust explains.
