COVID-19 hospitalizations in New York state have reached their lowest level since the start of the pandemic, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Saturday.

The 371 patients hospitalized breaks the previous low of 410 reached on September 5, 2020.

"We're finally putting the COVID-19 pandemic in the rear-view mirror, and more New Yorkers are getting vaccinated every single day as the numbers continue to come down," Cuomo said in a statement. "Getting shots in arms is the key to our future, and we're offering several exciting incentives to New Yorkers across the state who haven't yet been vaccinated. Taking the shot protects your family, friends and community, so if you haven't been vaccinated, please walk into a site or make an appointment today."

Cuomo announced that less than 100 patients are in an ICU statewide, and less than 50 patients are intubated.

New York is approaching 21 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered, with 20,945,467 doses given out as of Saturday. According to CDC data cited by the governor, 71.6% of all New Yorkers age 18 and older have received at least one vaccine dose and 64.1% have completed their vaccine series. 59.4% of New Yorkers of all ages have received at least one dose and 52.8% have completed their vaccine series.
