For some in the Muslim world, President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and move the United States embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is proof the U.S. is taking sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But for a local Jewish rabbi, the move validates Israel's status as a sovereign nation.

Rabbi Yaakov Rapoport is applauding the president's decision, saying the historic move will bring both sides together.

Meanwhile, members of the Islamic Society of Central New York say it will do just the opposite. The president says the status of Jerusalem should be settled in negotiations between Israel and Palestine.
