UTICA, N.Y. — More than 800 bicycles were donated, refurbished and given away Saturday. 

It was the 13th annual Build-A-Bike event in Utica. Children, up to 18 years old, were given the chance to pick out their very own bike. 

"I think it gives the kids a lot of freedom and a lot of ways to get to jobs, to do other things and to be physically fit. We always want them to be physically fit so it's a great round-about way to do all of that," said Anne Lansing, CEO of Safe Schools Mohawk Valley.

If you have unused bikes, donations are already being accepted for next year's event.
