Religious leaders in Central New York are grieving in the wake of Saturday’s mass shooting in Pittsburgh.

One of Syracuse University's rabbis, Yaakov Rapoport, says he is fearful and in shock.

He's scheduling talks with school officers about upping security.

Rapoport says the only way to beat hate is by standing strong in his faith and not backing down.

"We usher in the Chabat with the lighting of candles, and we conclude the Chabat with the lighting of candles. And so, we are going to continue bringing light into the world,” says Rapoport.

The Chabad held a candlelight vigil Sunday evening.
