A woman was killed in a small plane crash in Oswego County Sunday night.

According to New York State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Jeanette M. Reyner, 74, of Hannibal, was operating her personally owned single seat 1997 Ultralight Aircraft near her residence around 8:15 p.m.

Reyner had been flying for approximnately 35 minutes when she began to fly back toward the runway, which is located behind her residence.

Police said several witnesses said they heard the engine cut out as the plane was approaching the runway and reported they lost sight of the airaft and heard it crash behind a tree line. The aircraft came down on Sixty-Six Road in the Town of Hannibal. 

A family member rushed to the scene and called 911.

Reyner was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is shceudled later Monday to determine an official cause of death.

It is unclear at this time what caused the crash.
